I bought a small aquarium used for my 9 years old. He had gravel and plants and air pump. I filled it with water and put in my fish. I havent put the fish at the same time as they are not entirely compatible. But even in a bowl only one, still die. I noticed a fast growing species rapidly growing green waste in the gravel that inflates in green swollen.
Has something used to make chlorine in the water? I doubt that the first tank cycling so it probably was high ammonia that killed all their fish, when a test kit is a good idea. When the ammonia reaches a certain point it becomes deadly and will kill all fish and water changes are needed to reduce it to a safe level. After a time is a beneficial bacteria convert ammonia and nitrite, which is as deadly as ammonia and can kill then just as easy. After a little longer a new form of beneficial bacteria convert the formed nitrite and nitrate, which is not fatal but can kill if it is still very high which is why you make changes Regular water. No filtering will not happen though so if you do not have one that will continue to lose their fish. You can make a dry cycle and add pure ammonia to let the tank cycle without the possibility of damage to fish, I'll add a link to help you with that. It may take more than a month to a cycle of deposit of any way so while you're waiting you can go to some different fish stores or online to see maybe a different type of fish and perhaps get some only in the case of drugs. Just remember to never over the tank, will only make you have more work to do more water changes.
