Help saltwater aquarium!?
I recently bought a 30gal tank to start a small saltwater aquarium with my brothers. I made a lot research on saltwater aquariums but I was wondering if you could tell me the prices and tell me whether or not I have everything you need to start? my aquarium Saltwater: 30gal tank furnace filter test strips 30 lbs live rock 30 lbs live sand thermometer Protien skimmer (not sure if you need this item? Huh??) Air stones also what kind of lighting I need?? thank you very much !!!!!!!! yeah i mixture of sea salt. oh have a lot of expireince with freshwater fish, but want to upgrade to saltwater.
there are different ways to create a SW tank. Will it be a fish only with live rock? or a reef tank? a skimmer protein is not 100% necessary, but does its job of maintaining a healthy tank is so much easier I recommend it. I do not waste your money on "live" sand, as there is much die from it is on the shelves for so long there is a lot of living organisms on the left. and is also much cheaper, only to have his turn live rock live sand in a few months. Do not use air stones in a SW tank instead use Powerheads. you def. need a hydrometer to check specific gravity (refractometer would be more accurate but more expensive) lighting only Whether you have a fish tank coral reef can only be any lighting needs between 3 and 7 watts per gallon (depending on the species of coral to be) I personally do not use a filter of rock, and live just a skimmer. While reading a bit long for information about SW tanks http://forums.saltwaterfish.com/vb/showthread.php?t=301033
