5 gallon fish tank setup?

I have a fish tank that uses a form of octagon. No instructions. It uses a filter carterage small and would be 2-5 gallons. Please help me. I also pulled the suction cups that holds the filter so far and I think I threw the bag in the large container. I feel very stupid, but does anyone know what I use as a sub.?

just get new pads, Walmart probably has them, or even a craft store. Just check the size of the entire back needs to go.
